Job Summary

This post has become vacant due to the current post holder requiring maternity leave and offers an exciting opportunity to join a well-established team of occupational health practitioners based at New Cross Hospital. Our service is part of the Human Resources Directorate and we provide occupational health & wellbeing support to both Trust staff and external customers and deliver health and wellbeing initiatives in line with corporate & national strategy.

Hours of work will be arranged over 5 days a week with core hours of 08.30 to 16.30 and an occasional requirement to work outside these hours to meet service needs potentially to support seasonal work as required such as vaccination campaigns. The postholder will be expected to work in our satellite departments and on various external client sites so a car diver/owner is an essential requirement.

A key component of the role will be to support the Specialist Team Leader responsible for service delivery to an existing external contract and, dependent on the service needs of our customers, there will be times when off site clinics will require the nurse to be available all day, with appropriate notice, and hours adjusted accordingly. • Contribute to the development and implementation of evidence-based protocols, standards, policies and clinical guidelines within own work area.
• Ensure a culture of continuous quality improvement through the use of audit, client feedback and reflection on practice by self and other members of the team.
• Promote a clean and safe environment for staff, clients and visitors by ensuring compliance with legislation, policies and protocols including health and safety, healthcare associated infection prevention, clinical governance, including risk management and critical incident reporting and root cause analysis.
• Demonstrate effective communication within the multi-professional team regarding client care.
• Assess the risks involved in the care of clients and ensure utilisation of practices and protocols to minimise those risks, including safe use of medical devices.
