Job Overview

Enable the Trust to provide cardiac physiology investigations, including at an external site in West Swindon. The role involves a wide range of invasive and non‑invasive investigations such as stress echocardiography, TOE, valve and bubble clinics, CRT, ICD and conduction‑system device implantations, remote‑monitoring pacemaker services, and research.

Main duties of the job
  • Work in close partnership with Cardiac Physiology Service Managers, other cardiac physiologists, and lead clinicians.
  • Develop, implement, and review standard operating procedures and guidelines.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge and expertise in cardiac physiology.
  • Interpret and report advanced cardiac diagnostic tests, including cardiac ultrasound and rhythm‑management devices.
  • Train, develop and assess junior staff members.
Detailed responsibilities
  • Prepare, deliver, and evaluate educational resources for medical and nursing staff.
  • Participate in audit and collate data for audit frameworks.
  • Provide clinical supervision and training; act as work‑based assessor.
  • Work closely with service managers and clinicians on a day‑to‑day basis.
Qualifications
  • BSc (Honours) in Clinical Physiology (Cardiology) or equivalent.
  • Current BSE accreditation and/or Cardiac Rhythm Management qualification.
  • Ability to work independently across cardiac physiology areas (e.g., DSE, ESE, TOE, 3D echo, congenital heart scans).
  • Teaching and assessor qualification.
  • Adult BSE accreditation.
