Job purpose:
To assist with a variety of tasks which will assist the person who needs care and support to live their personal and social life according to their wishes and interests.
About the employer:
Our client is 22 years old, autistic and lives in Wolverhampton. She has low language and cognitive skills but is physically fit and generally content.
Our client is looking for a Personal Assistant who lives locally and has experience with managing and organising children and is aware of the challenges that autistic people can face.
- Encourage the client to socialise with family and friends
- Assist with managing type 1 diabetes
- Attend medical appointments with the family
- Go shopping and travel on buses, trains and trams
- Attend social events such as the cinema
- Accompany our client to the swimming baths
Personal care:
Support with bathing/showering, teeth cleaning, dressing.
Domestic duties:
Support with household tasks such as preparing meals for the client. Helping the client to use the dishwasher and washing machine with the client.
These duties may vary from day-to-day.

The successful applicant will understand autism and preferably previous care and support experience.

Due to the nature of this role including personal care the potential employer will be considering female applicants only.
Hours of work: 21-28 hours per week – over 3/4 days 08:30am – 15:30pm each day
Rate of pay: £14.25 per hour

Good at building relationships
Preferred- Previous experience of working with individuals with autism
- A good listener
- Ability to support people with complex care needs.

This role is funded by the Local Authority and is paid 4 weekly.
