Infection Prevention Practitioners are key to the delivery of the infection prevention delivery plan, operational policy and annual programme of work, as well as the formulation, monitoring and implementation of associated policies, protocols and guidelines. They are also responsible for day-to-day surveillance, outbreak prevention and control and advice giving to a range of clinical and non-clinical services in the Trust., The post-holder will be expected to participate in the delivery of a trust-wide delivery plan for the prevention and control of infection.

The post-holder will be expected to contribute to the formation, review and evaluation of the annual programme of work for infection prevention and control and the associated annual report.

Take responsibility for communicating developments, best practice and infection prevention priorities to a designated group of clinical and non-clinical areas and the whole multidisciplinary team.

Be expected to formulate, monitor, deliver and evaluate projects aimed at the achievement of local, regional and national priorities relating to infection prevention.

Be expected to scrutinise local and national surveillance data, guidance and expert opinion to identify areas for local improvement and to facilitate the implementation of related improvements to practice/the environment.

Be expected to maintain an advanced knowledge of infection prevention and control and, where appropriate, implement evidence-based practice (including in the development of Trust policies) and outbreak control measures.

Work flexibly to provide a 7-day service including bank holidays as agreed with the Matron Infection Prevention.
