Healthcare Assistant – St Julias Hospice

We’re looking for a Healthcare Assistant to provide hands-on, person-centred care and emotional support to patients and families when it matters most.

Hospice experience is a real advantage, but it’s not essential — bring your compassion, curiosity, and willingness to learn, and support will be provided.

About the role

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing holistic, person-centred care, ensuring every patient is treated with dignity, respect and kindness.

Your role will include:

  • Supporting with personal care and daily living needs
  • Helping patients feel comfortable, safe and cared for
  • Providing emotional support to patients and their loved ones
  • Working closely with nurses and the wider team to deliver the highest quality care
  • Creating a calm, compassionate and reassuring environment

What we offer

We pride ourselves on being a caring employer as well as a caring organisation. In return, you’ll receive:

  • A welcoming, inclusive and supportive team culture
  • Generous annual leave entitlement
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Access to a dedicated health and wellbeing programme
  • Ongoing learning and development opportunities

Working pattern

This role involves a rotational shift pattern, including:

  • Nights
  • Bank holidays

We warmly welcome informal visits so you can experience our environment and meet the team. Please call
Claire Clark (Ward Manager)on.

“My friend was nursed so well, and had every attention during his last days. He twice asked me; who is paying for all this? and couldn’t believe it was free. What a wonderful world it would be if everyone had access to this standard of care.”

Cornwall Hospice Family & Friends Feedback.

Working for us

Our employees and volunteers are essential to the care we provide. In return, for joining a team of people having such a positive impact on others, we provide:

  • A chance to make a real difference
  • Supportive working environment
  • Access to a wide range of training and development opportunities
  • Generous annual leave entitlement of 35 days including bank holidays (pro-rata), which increases with service and the option to buy or sell leave
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Life Assurance
  • Non-contributory medical cash plan, with the option to include your family members
  • Employee Assistance Programme
