Position: Children and Young People Advisor

Join us on our journey to empower over a million people to change their behaviours and thrive!

At Thrive Tribe we deliver award-winning healthy lifestyle and wellbeing programmes that make people happier and healthier!

It’s a super exciting time to join us as we begin to deliver our newly awarded Smoking Cessation support service across Hampshire, and we’re looking for a Children and Young People Stop Smoking Advisor to join us!

Our programme is designed to support residents of Hampshire access the support they need to stop smoking. This can be done through a number of approaches and will include the supply of Nicotine Replacement Therapies (NRT) being sent to them. Combining these, with digital, remote or face‑to‑face appointments with Stop Smoking Advisors to support them to ensure their quit attempt is successful.

This is an exciting opportunity to provide specialist stop smoking support and advice to children and young people across Hampshire, helping them to quit smoking and maintain a smoke‑free lifestyle.

This role will involve delivering tailored interventions, providing education and raising awareness about the harms of smoking, and working collaboratively with partner agencies to support young people. There is also a big emphasis on this role to provide vape cessation support for this cohort.

Like all roles at Thrive Tribe, you can expect your time at work to be fun, varied and challenging. We don’t like to stick to a firm JD as we know from experience that things change throughout the lifetime of a role and it gives our people the chance to play to their strengths.

A typical day as a Children and Young People Stop Smoking Advisor might include:
  • Provide one‑to‑one and group‑based stop smoking support to children and young people, utilising evidence‑based behavioural change techniques (face‑to‑face and remotely)
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of young people's smoking habits, motivation to quit, and any associated risk factors.
  • Develop personalised quit plans tailored to the individual needs of young people, including nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) advice where appropriate and within local guidelines.
  • Deliver engaging and age‑appropriate educational sessions on the health risks of smoking and the benefits of quitting.
  • Provide ongoing support and relapse prevention strategies to young people throughout their quit journey.
  • Develop and deliver outreach activities to engage young people in stop smoking services, including school visits, community events, and online campaigns.
  • Build strong relationships with schools, youth organisations, and other relevant agencies to promote the service and facilitate referrals (co‑production with such partners will be a core component to ensuring we provide an effective service).
  • Raise awareness of the service and the harms of smoking among young people, parents, and professionals.
  • Work to reduce health inequalities, and target areas and communities with high smoking prevalence among young people.
  • Stay up‑to‑date with the latest evidence‑based stop smoking interventions and best practices for working with young people.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of training for other professionals working with young people.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, including school nurses, social workers, and youth workers, to provide holistic support to young people.
  • Attend multi‑agency meetings to discuss and coordinate support for young people.
  • Contribute to the development of local strategies and initiatives to reduce smoking prevalence among young people.
  • Provide vape cessation support to children and young people
  • Provide education on tobacco and nicotine products to key stakeholders
  • Work with partner organisations and colleagues across the healthcare system…
