Payroll Apprentice – Join Our Friendly, Supportive, and Growing HR Team!
Location: Horwich
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Salary: £15,860 per annum

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Payroll Apprentice to join our Payroll Team in Horwich. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in payroll, gaining hands‑on experience while supporting the processing of multiple payrolls across the business.
Working alongside experienced payroll professionals, you will learn the end‑to‑end payroll process and develop valuable skills in payroll administration, compliance, reporting, and employee support.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Payroll Apprentice, you will:
- Support the Payroll Team with the full end‑to‑end payroll process.
- Assist with calculating and processing employee wages, absences, overtime, and deductions.
- Help administer employee benefits processed through payroll.
- Upload and reconcile pension data.
- Prepare and distribute payroll reports to internal stakeholders.
- Respond to employee payroll queries, escalating complex matters when required.
- Support the processing of statutory payments, including SSP, SMP, PAYE, and National Insurance.
- Assist with year‑end payroll activities.
- Maintain accurate employee records within Payroll and HR systems.
- Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, company policies, GDPR, and data protection requirements.
- Support internal and external payroll audits.
- Provide administrative assistance to the wider HR Team when required.
- Undertake additional duties appropriate to the role.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.

- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information professionally.
