Henlee Resourcing has been retained by this niche manufacturing, engineering and construction business with bases in Stonehouse and Wolverhampton to search for their new HR Manager. This is a new role that’s been created due to growth and reports to a progressive Director.

Hours 7am - 3pm / 8am to 4pm (37.5 per week)
Stonehouse (Stroud) or Wolverhampton with frequent travel between the sites
Salary c. £50,000 plus car allowance and benefits package
Reporting directly to the Director, this role will work with managers across both businesses, providing professional HR support and commercially focused people solutions. The successful candidate will lead employee relations matters, provide expert employment law guidance, support organisational development and ensure the businesses remain compliant with employment legislation and HR best practice.
This role is ideal for an experienced HR professional who enjoys working autonomously, building strong relationships with managers and making a genuine impact within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
About the role / key responsibilities:Employee Relations
- Lead and manage employee relations cases from start to finish.
- Conduct investigations into disciplinary, grievance, absence and conduct matters.
- Support managers with formal meetings and hearings.
- Prepare investigation reports and recommendations.
- Ensure fair, consistent and legally compliant decision making.
- Advise managers on performance management and capability issues.
- Support long-term sickness and occupational health processes.
- Provide practical advice on employment law and HR best practice.
- Maintain and update company policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation.
- Monitor legal developments and recommend appropriate business changes.
- Support GDPR and employee data protection compliance.
- Assist with HR audits and compliance reviews.
- Support probation reviews and performance management processes.
- Coach managers on employee development and performance improvement.
- Assist with succession planning and workforce planning.
- Support learning and development initiatives across the business.
- Manage recruitment campaigns for salaried and operational roles.
- Work with recruitment agencies and direct recruitment platforms.
- Screen CV's and coordinate interviews.
- Conduct interviews where appropriate.
- Support onboarding and induction processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve recruitment attraction and retention.
- Act as a trusted advisor to managers.
- Build management capability through coaching and guidance.
- Support managers with difficult conversations and people management challenges.
- Support organisational change initiatives.
- Lead specific HR improvement projects.
- Contribute to employee engagement and culture initiatives.
- Review and improve HR processes and systems.
- CIPD Level 5 qualified or above.
- Significant experience within a standalone Senior HR Advisor / HR Manager role, ideally within manufacturing, engineering or industrial sectors.
- Strong employee relations experience.
- Up to date knowledge of UK employment law.
- Experience managing complex HR cases independently.
- Excellent investigation and report writing skills.
- Strong communication and influencing skills.
- Ability to challenge constructively and professionally.
- Ability to manage a varied workload and prioritise effectively.
- Full UK driving license.
We are looking for somebody who is a "can do" / pragmatic generalist who possesses excellent interpersonal relationship building skills - ideally gained from within manufacturing, engineering or construction. In an ideal world you will also be qualified to level 5 CIPD but it's your experience and pragmatic / progressive approach that is of most importance.
