Adecco are currently recruiting for an experienced Buyer to join a well-established manufacturing organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement professional who is looking to take ownership of supplier relationships, contracts, and category management within a fast-paced industrial environment.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the effective sourcing of goods and services, delivering commercial value, managing supplier performance, and supporting business objectives through strategic procurement activities.
Key Responsibilities- Identify, assess, and onboard suppliers, ensuring quality, reliability, and value for money.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and commercial terms to achieve the best outcomes for the business.
- Provide commercial support and procurement expertise to internal stakeholders.
- Manage the end‑to‑end procurement process, from initial enquiry through to contract award and supplier management.
- Take ownership of assigned contracts and procurement categories.
- Lead commercial discussions, contract negotiations, reviews, and renewals.
- Develop category strategies and identify the most appropriate suppliers to meet business requirements.
- Conduct supplier due diligence, including capability assessments, compliance checks, and performance evaluations.
- Ensure procurement deadlines are met and avoid out‑of‑contract spend through effective planning and supplier engagement.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to maximise performance and service delivery.
- Resolve supplier issues promptly and elevate where necessary.
- Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and continuous improvement meetings.
- Provide constructive feedback and drive supplier development initiatives.
- Identify supply chain risks and implement contingency plans, particularly for single‑source suppliers.
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and procedures.
- Monitor supplier compliance with relevant certifications and accreditations.
- Coordinate and complete annual supplier performance appraisals with key internal stakeholders.
- Review contracts and supplier agreements to ensure legal and commercial compliance.
- Proven experience in a Buyer or Procurement role.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working with ERP systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Demonstrated experience in supplier management and relationship building.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines.
- Strong commercial awareness and contract management experience.
- Sound understanding of contractual terms, legal compliance, and procurement best practice.
