About the role

As a Driver Technician Trainee 7.5t, you will be supported through a 3‑month trainee programme to become a fully qualified John Lewis Customer Delivery Technician with a C1 driving licence. Once fully trained, you will deliver furniture, large appliances, sound systems and television sets directly to customers' homes as part of a two‑person delivery crew. Applicants must be 18 or over by their start date.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as an ambassador for the John Lewis brand and provide excellent customer service.
  • Perform daily checks and assist in loading vehicles with deliveries while collaborating with the warehouse team.
  • Respect customers' homes and resolve unexpected situations to find the best solution.
  • Install a range of products (e.g., wall‑mounted TVs, integrated appliances, and hard‑wired appliances) efficiently and accurately.
  • Keep up to date with new products and technologies to perform the role at a high level.
  • Adhere to all legal driving regulations, the Working Time Directive and EU regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Complete the 90‑day programme through personal development and training.
  • Heavy lifting of large items such as sofas, white goods, sports equipment, furniture, beds and mattresses.
Essential skills/experience you'll need
  • UK B‑category manual driving licence with no more than six points.
  • Previous experience in a customer‑facing role.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, both over the phone and in person.
  • Good understanding of technology and a strong interest in installation.
Desirable skills/experience you may have
  • Prior experience in installation and customer delivery services.
  • Previous experience as a team leader or role model.
Working hours

Full‑time work (41 hours per week) across four days on a five‑week rota. Monday to Saturday, 06:00–17:00.
