My client is currently recruiting for an experienced Multimodal Freight Coordinator to join a well-established and growing freight forwarding business based in Wolverhampton. This is an exciting opportunity for an organised and customer-focused logistics professional with experience across air, sea and road freight operations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing international freight movements from booking through to final delivery, ensuring shipments are handled efficiently, compliantly and cost-effectively while delivering an exceptional level of customer service.
- Coordinate international Air, Ocean and Road Freight import and export shipments from start to finish.
- Manage customer bookings, ensuring shipment requirements are understood and executed accurately.
- Arrange transport with airlines, shipping lines, hauliers and courier partners.
- Prepare and process all relevant freight documentation, including:
- Bills of Lading
- CMR documentation
- Packing Lists
- Certificates of Origin
- Liaise with overseas agents, carriers, customers and suppliers to ensure timely shipment movements.
- Coordinate customs clearance by working closely with customs teams and ensuring all documentation is complete and compliant.
- Track shipments proactively and provide customers with regular progress updates.
- Resolve operational issues, delays and exceptions in a timely and professional manner.
- Obtain competitive freight rates and prepare quotations for customers.
- Maximise shipment profitability through effective routing, consolidation and cost control.
- Ensure all jobs are accurately costed, invoiced and closed within agreed timescales.
- Maintain accurate shipment records using the company's freight forwarding software.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with customers, suppliers and overseas partners.
- Ensure compliance with HMRC Customs regulations, Incoterms and international shipping requirements.
- Contribute towards achieving departmental KPIs and service level agreements.
- Previous experience within a freight forwarding operations role.
- Experience handling air, sea and road freight shipments
- Strong understanding of international import and export procedures.
- Working knowledge of UK Customs processes and documentation.
- Experience preparing freight documentation.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously.
- Commercial awareness with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Experience using freight forwarding systems such as Cargo Wise, ASM Sequoia, Multi Freight, Descartes or similar would be advantageous.
