Role Overview

As a member of our maintenance team, you will champion a culture of safety, quality, and operational excellence. You will supervise, resource, and inspire a skilled maintenance team to maximise site equipment availability safely and efficiently while driving cost‑effective solutions. By managing daily workflows, tracking critical KPIs, and coordinating with external partners, you will ensure our production facility operates at peak efficiency.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Champion safety & quality.
  • Maximise efficiency by deploying safe, effective, and cost‑efficient maintenance methods to ensure maximum equipment availability for production.
  • Support the maintenance team in achieving the department KPI's.
Team Leadership & Communication
  • Conduct daily team meetings to gather data, address concerns, and keep performance visuals up to date.
  • Communicate company updates, safety briefings, and critical team talks effectively.
  • Coordinate and maintain shift schedules to ensuring department coverage to support the sites production hours.
  • Provide seamless shift handovers and log critical updates.
Workflow & Resource Management
  • Triage incoming Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) work orders to assign labour for reactive and planned tasks optimising the resource available.
  • Review CMMS work orders with maintenance technicians, ensuring they have the tools and support to be effective in their roles.
  • Partner with Value Stream contacts to co‑coordinate planned downtime maintenance windows, providing advanced notice and reminders.
  • Provide updates on work orders.
  • Attend daily Tier meetings, reporting on equipment unplanned repair status, planned activities and tracking action items.
Technical Oversight & Continuous Improvement
  • Perform hands‑on maintenance duties matching your technical expertise when required.
  • Assist the Equipment Performance team in breakdown investigations to identify permanent fixes and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Champion and participate in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement activities.
Supplier Partnership
  • Coordinate and oversee external supplier visits for planned and reactive tasks, ensuring health and safety compliance through effective contractor management.
  • Support the team in the procurement and tracking of maintenance and repair parts.
  • Liaise with a variety of service and technical support suppliers to achieve equipment repairs and improvements.
Qualifications
  • A time served engineering apprenticeship to NVQ Level 3.
  • An ONC/HNC (or equivalent) in an engineering based subject.
  • A relevant safety qualification such as IOSH, CITB Contractor Management.
Experience
  • At least 5 years' experience in a maintenance environment.
  • Experience working with CMMS's for work order tracking, planning and KPI generation.
  • Organising the workload for maintenance personnel and understanding different technician's skillsets.
  • A track record of problem solving in a production environment.
  • Relationship building and networking – to form constructive relationships with on site customers.
Knowledge
  • An understanding of CMMS from both a user point of view and administration.
  • An understanding of equipment criticality and risk based maintenance approaches, such as FMECA, RCM and condition based monitoring.
  • An appreciation of maintenance best practices; cost management, spare parts management, maintenance planning and control.
  • Lean tools and practises.
