Responsible for the effective line management and leadership of the Oncology and Haematology Services Group, ensuring structures and systems are in place to coordinate the activities of the various health care professionals.

To provide management support to the DCOO, Head of Nursing, Divisional Medical Directors and Directorate Management Team, with them, develop, implement and monitor finance and activity arrangements and business plans for the Oncology and Haematology Services Group. To facilitate staff and team development and ensure effective communication systems operate within the Group and other specialities, across the Divisions and Trust.

Group Managers are expected to work for the clinical and business success of their Group Specialties, and to contribute to the corporate success of the Trust. This will include the implementation and development or corporate policies and long-term strategic plans and initiating changes in line with Trust Management Team decisions to local and regional services.

To be responsible for developing, influencing and implementing policies within the Emergency Services Group, and across the organisation.

Job responsibilities Strategic
  • Develop Oncology and Haematology Services Group long-term strategic direction
  • Work in conjunction with Trust and other agencies in developing strategies for meeting local transformation objectives and delivery of the NHS 10 Year Plan
  • Develop a multidisciplinary team approach to patient interventions and participate in the development of clinical pathways
  • Be responsible for service redesign to improve patient care in line with strategic policies
  • Research, audit and write business cases to support proposals for service redesign
  • Develop and implement the Emergency Services Group Health Care Plan and, in conjunction with Clinical Directorates, agree the level of support required to deliver service delivery plans across the Trust
