A well-established engineering and manufacturing business is looking to strengthen its senior commercial function with the appointment of a Commercial Manager.
This is a key role within the business, offering the opportunity to take ownership of the commercial function, lead a small team and personally manage a portfolio of key customer accounts.
The successful candidate will ideally come from an engineering, manufacturing or subcontract environment, with a strong understanding of quotation, pricing, margin and contract management.
As Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for:- Leading, coaching and developing a small commercial team, including setting KPIs and managing performance.
- Managing a portfolio of key accounts and developing relationships at both buyer and engineering level.
- Owning the RFQ and quotation process from initial enquiry through to order.
- Reviewing and approving quotations, cost build-ups and pricing to ensure target margins are achieved.
- Managing the contract review and order acceptance process, identifying commercial and contractual risks.
- Monitoring quoted versus realised margins and taking action where required.
- Leading customer negotiations, annual price reviews and surcharge recovery.
- Working closely with Engineering, Production and Purchasing to ensure quoted lead times, capacity and manufacturing routes are realistic.
We are looking for an experienced commercial professional who can combine commercial judgement with a genuine understanding of engineering and manufacturing.
Ideally, you will have:
- 5+ years' experience within commercial, account management or internal sales roles in an engineering/manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience of leading, supervising or managing a team.
- Strong experience of quoting and pricing manufactured components.
- The ability to understand engineering drawings, specifications and manufacturing requirements.
- Strong Excel and ERP/MRP experience.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Commercial Manager / Senior Account Manager / Commercial Team Leader to take a genuine step up in responsibility, working closely with the Commercial Director and having significant influence over the company's commercial performance.
