£33,000 – £45,000 depending on experience
Working on behalf of our client, we are seeking an experienced Estimator with a background in the print industry to join a busy commercial team. The role focuses on producing accurate, competitive estimates and tenders by working closely with internal departments, analysing production routes, and supporting informed commercial decision‑making. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys technical detail, cost analysis, and collaboration, and who is confident working across multiple stakeholders to deliver high‑quality estimates in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities- Interpret customer requirements and ask clarifying questions to ensure accuracy.
- Produce detailed and competitive estimates considering multiple layouts and production routings.
- Compare and evaluate costs while maintaining market competitiveness.
- Liaise with Procurement, Commercial, and Production teams to gather required information.
- Prepare and present estimates to management.
- Recommend alternative production routes, cost‑saving, or time‑saving options.
- Identify opportunities where new equipment investment could improve efficiency or cost.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of production machinery, capabilities, speeds, and tolerances.
- Understand new equipment entering the market and its impact on estimating.
- Work with Procurement to obtain specifications, MOQs, lead times, and pricing.
- Calculate raw material and component quantities accurately.
- Source and evaluate outwork costs in line with approved vendor policies.
- Estimate product weights and dimensions for transport and shipping costs.
- Create BOMs, routings, and item cards in Microsoft Dynamics Business Central.
- Complete end‑of‑job costings and analyse estimated vs actual costs.
- Investigate discrepancies and use data to improve future pricing accuracy.
- Support continuous improvement through system and process enhancements.
- Must have experience within the print industry.
- Proven experience producing estimates or quotations in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics Business Central.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work under pressure.
- Knowledge of reprographics.
- Technical understanding of machinery (speed, capacity, tolerances).
- Strong relationship‑building and emotional intelligence skills.
