To support our existing business and drive future growth, we have 2 opportunities for Apprentice Technicians within our Power and Controls division at the HS Marston facility in the West Midlands.

What you will do

In this role you will play a hands‑on role in maintaining and supporting the production of high precision aircraft components and systems. This three‑year level 3 apprenticeship blends practical workshop experience with structured technical training, preparing you for a skilled career in aerospace manufacturing and engineering.

Supported by our experienced team you will:

  • Operate and maintain workshop tools, machinery, and equipment under supervision.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Perform precision measurements using tools such as micrometers, gauges and temperature instruments.
  • Support routine inspections, testing, and quality assurance activities related to furnaces and heat treatment equipment.
  • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and other professionals.
  • Participate in classroom based and on the job training modules to help maintain and improve site and technical knowledge.
  • Assist with both reactive and proactive mechanical maintenance tasks.
  • Work with furnace engineers to learn equipment safety, performance optimisation and compliance.
  • Support furnace control systems setup, monitoring and basic fault diagnostics.
  • Learn to understand mechanical systems and how to diagnose problems/plant faults constructively and accurately.
  • Record daily activities to assist with any fault diagnosis and improvement opportunities.
  • Attend and contribute towards any planned maintenance meetings/plant reviews.
  • Help ensure programmed solutions are reliable, safe and are delivered inline with technical specifications, engineering standards, and customer requirements.
  • Follow strict safety, regulatory, and aerospace manufacturing standards.
  • Take part in the development, creation, and implementation of TPM schedules to achieve maximum machine availability.

Alongside gaining hands‑on experience you will work toward a Level 3 Engineering & Manufacturing Support Technician Apprenticeship helping to shape a strong foundation for your future career – which we hope may lead to securing a permanent role with us!

We expect that you will be just starting your career in Manufacturing so, alongside our training partner, we will delight in training and supporting you through your career journey to successfully complete your apprenticeship. That means you need to be a willing learner and committed to achieving both business and personal results whilst working as part of a team. With a natural curiosity for how things work and hands‑on tasks, you will be a strong communicator and problem‑solver, with good attention to detail and the ability to follow technical instructions.

You will have obtained a minimum of five GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C/4 or above including Mathematics and English and a STEM subject.
