An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Shift Manager to join our busy team at Edward Howell Galvanize rs Ltd based in Wednesfield, West Midlands (WV13). What’s the role?

As a Shift Manager you will report directly to the Works Manager and will have the overall responsibility for managing the daily operations and production efficiency on your shift. This includes ensuring the shift achieves Key Performance Indictors (KPI's) associated within this role.

You will be based in a factory environment and main responsibilities include:

  • Putting Safety First - supervising safe working practices of the shift and visitors.
  • Following the Production Plan and allocating resources, operatives, and equipment to meet operational requirements.
  • Partake in improvement teams and activities.
  • Developing shift members to enable multi-tasking capability.
  • Ensuring work is prioritised effectively to achieve optimum productivity and maximise efficiency in line with the production schedule.
  • Maintaining quality standards, ensuring compliance, monitoring defect reporting and implementing improvement actions where required.
  • Completing H&S compliance monitoring.
  • Identifying and implementing improvements to facilities, processes and the working environment.
  • Participate in Lean activities, promote near-miss reporting and providing regular feedback to your team.
  • Managing attendance, timekeeping and performance, including conducting performance reviews as required.
  • Attending and contributing to daily production meetings and Shift Manager meetings as required.
  • Maintaining excellent housekeeping standards across the shift.
Hours?

Initially, the hours will be 6am to 2pm - Monday to Friday, with Overtime required at weekends and requirements to open and close plant as required along with being on a call out list for alarm activations. These hours may change dependent on the needs of the business moving forwards.

They must be able to think in a fast-paced environment, ensure the efficient operation of the process line and consistency display role-model behaviour.
Training will be provided for the ongoing development of the successful candidate.
