CNC Machinist, Manufacturing & Industrial Operations, Machine Operator
Permanent | Monday to Friday | Day Shifts
Salary is dependant on experience
Are you an experienced VMC Setter or CNC Setter looking for a permanent, days-based role with an established UK manufacturer?
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys the hands-on side of CNC machining and wants a role where you'll be trusted to take ownership of your own set-ups.
Working within a busy manufacturing environment, you'll be responsible for setting VMCs for predominantly small-batch production, producing first-offs and making the necessary adjustments to ensure components are machined accurately and efficiently.
This is mainly a setting role rather than programming from scratch, with the opportunity to develop your experience further across 5-axis machining.
What you'll be doing- Setting VMCs ready for small-batch production runs
- Setting tooling, fixtures, work holding and offsets for each job
- Loading existing CNC programs and making adjustments where needed
- Producing first-offs, checking your work and making sure everything is right before production
- Working from engineering drawings and using verniers, micrometres and gauges to check components
- Keeping jobs running smoothly, monitoring quality and dealing with tooling or machining issues as they arise
- You’ll need to be confident using Fanuc controls
- Experience working with 3, 4 or 5-axis machining centres
- Comfortable setting your own tooling, work holding and offsets
- Able to confidently read engineering drawings and produce accurate first-offs
- A good practical understanding of machining, tooling and tolerances, with an eye for quality
