This is a hands‑on leadership role for an experienced manufacturing professional who can manage day‑to‑day workshop operations, drive quality and efficiency, and support the development of a skilled production team.
Key Responsibilities- Take full responsibility for the day‑to‑day running of the workshop, overseeing a team of 20 production staff
- Manage and support a Foreman, who will report directly into this role and assist with shop‑floor supervision
- Oversee production scheduling across both CNC machining and manual finishing processes to ensure on‑time delivery
- Maintain consistently high standards of quality, ensuring components meet the exacting requirements of aerospace customers
- Monitor and manage workflow across plastic, steel, and sheet metal production lines
- Ensure health and safety standards are upheld throughout the workshop at all times
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce waste, and streamline processes
- Manage staffing levels, training needs, and performance within the workshop team
- Liaise with other departments (e.g. quality, planning, engineering) to ensure smooth production flow
- Maintain accurate production, quality, and compliance records as required for aerospace industry standards
- Proven experience managing a manufacturing or workshop team, ideally within a precision engineering or aerospace supply environment
- Strong working knowledge of both CNC machining and manual production processes
- Experience working with a mix of materials such as plastic, steel, and sheet metal is highly desirable
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to manage and develop a Foreman and wider team
- A practical, hands‑on approach with the ability to problem‑solve on the shop floor
- Good understanding of health & safety requirements within a manufacturing setting
- Familiarity with aerospace quality standards (e.g. AS9100) would be an advantage
- Full‑time, 5 days per week, fully site‑based in Wolverhampton
- Standard working hours
