Are you an experienced Registered Nurse looking for a senior nursing opportunity in the UK? Barchester Healthcare is recruiting Senior Nurses (General) to join its care home teams, with Skilled Worker visa support available for qualifying nurses.

About the Role

As a Senior Nurse (General), you will take a hands-on leadership role, supporting residents with a wide range of physical and emotional needs while helping to maintain a safe and supportive care environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing the needs of new residents and developing appropriate care plans.
  • Making clinical decisions and delivering safe, person-centred care.
  • Administering medicines in line with NMC standards.
  • Implementing safeguarding procedures and maintaining resident safety.
  • Completing treatment plans and detailed risk assessments.
  • Supporting and mentoring nurses and care staff.
  • Helping newly qualified nurses through their preceptorship.
  • Promoting high standards of clinical practice and continuous improvement.
  • Working in line with relevant regulatory and professional standards.
Candidate Requirements

To be considered for the Senior Nurse role, you should have:

  • Current NMC registration as a Registered Nurse (RGN).
  • A mentoring or supervision qualification.
  • Experience working with older people.
  • Knowledge of current clinical practices and standards.
  • Experience preparing treatment plans and risk assessments.
  • Knowledge of DoLS, MCA, and relevant medicines and pharmaceutical guidance.
  • Previous experience mentoring or supervising nursing staff.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision‑making abilities.
  • A committed, resilient, and professional approach to patient care.
