Qualified Head Grounds person - Newlands Parish Council

Our council and the role:

We are seeking a talented, hands‑on, and qualified gardener to join Newlands Parish Council. You will be responsible for the year‑round maintenance and development of countryside areas including sports fields, cultivation plots, and open spaces ensuring high horticultural standards.

• Maintenance of lawns, herbaceous borders, and shrubberies.
• Sports pitches, suds, and rivers, cultivation plots.
• Skilled pruning of trees, shrubs, and roses.
• Plant health care, including monitoring and treatment of pests and diseases.
• Operation of professional gardening machinery and equipment.
• Adherence to strict health and safety guidelines.

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent required.
• Proven experience working in parks, open spaces, and cultivation plot maintenance settings.
• Strong plant knowledge and horticultural skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Passionate about gardening, reliable, and able to work independently or within a team.

• Competitive salary (up to £27,000, depending on experience).
