Job Description & How to Apply Below

Equine Veterinary Surgeon, South Moor Equine Vets, South Devon

At South Moor Vets, we can trace our history back in time to when the Vet would do their rounds using a horse and cart! We are an independently owned, well established, dynamic team of dedicated Equine Vets. Due to an upcoming maternity leave we are looking for an experienced equine vet to join our team (permanent or maternity cover considered).

Why

South Moor Vets?

We have 5 equine vets (PT and FT), three of whom are certificate holders (Equine Medicine, Equine Practice and Equine Repro) and another is working towards a certificate. One of the great things about our practice, is that rather than being a small ambulatory team, you will be part of the much larger, young and supportive South Moor Vets team of 47 vets and 130 members of staff.

There are all sorts of regular social events, surfing, horse rides, swims etc, to make the most of our wonderful area in South Devon, spanning from coast to moor. We are currently purely ambulatory but keen to grow into a clinic of our own when the opportunity arises. We have full video endoscopy, digital radiography, ultrasound, surgical laser etc as you would expect.

What

we’re looking for...
  • Experienced
  • Keen to help grow and build the equine practice.
  • Someone who wants to work as part of a team.
  • Provide excellent care for our clients and patients.
  • A certificate holder or working towards a certificate
  • We would like someone with an interest in lameness to compliment the interests of the rest of the team, but this isn’t vital
What we offer?
  • Our rota is designed around work-life balance, so you have time to enjoy everything South Devon has to offer:
  • Excellent salary based on experience/skills.
  • Strong team culture
  • Vehicle can be provided if required
  • Enhanced maternity, paternity and sick pay
  • Private health insurance
  • Birthday holiday
  • A four day working week: typically 9-6pm (rolling lieu day)
  • A 1:5 out of hours rota. There’s always support at the end of the phone, and our fantastic nurses are on call with you to assist when needed.
  • Range of other ‘work perks’
  • Previously gained the BVA Great
  • Workplaces silver award
  • XLVets member practice with all the associated benefits.
  • Cycle to work/electric car schemes
  • Paid time off for charity work
