Job Overview
The role of a Crew member is amazing. The areas you will control and be in charge of are so important. This will vary from taking orders to completing deep cleaning in the store. You will be part of a big team and the ability to work with such a diverse workforce is very important. Crew members will need to work at a fast pace with many situations where you will need to multitask.
Our stores become very busy within minutes so we would need to ensure we are alert at all times. The moment we see a customer we need to become available to assist them, whether that is taking their order, assisting with kiosks or giving extra sauces or napkins. The service we give has a lasting impression on each customer and will most definitely determine if they return to us.
Our customers need to be valued and listened to each and every time. We need to be sensitive to their concerns and questions.
Here are a few duties and responsibilities you are expected to complete (in no particular order):
Responsibilities- Excellent communication with team members
- Being on your feet for most of the shift
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Stocking up all areas, this can be from frozen products to dry products
- Safe lifting of stock
- Taking orders, this can be on the front counter or in the Drive Thru
- Cash handling
- Working side to side with other team members on the same area
- Cooking food
- Preparing orders, in store, drive thru and delivery orders
- Managing the drinks station
- Communicating with Uber drivers – they are part of our team when taking our customer orders
- Taking orders out to customers in the Dining area
- Sweeping the floor
- Mopping the floors
- Doing detailed cleaning, scrubbing legs and wheels of tables, units
- Washing up, using our step by step methods
- Cleaning grease vats – not so great job but has to be done
- Changing cloths, using washing machines
- Changing rubbish bins
- Completing food waste counts, supporting your overall wellbeing with counselling, mental health support, life management, medical guidance, and helpful resources.

Premium Shift – If you work overnights, between the hours of midnight and 5am, you'll earn extra pay.

What type of shifts will I be doing and how many? Our restaurant hours range from location to location, but over half of our restaurants are open 24 hours a day. We schedule most shifts to suit you, but also take working time legislation and our business needs into account.
What should I wear to work? Just one of the benefits of working at McDonald’s is that you don't have to worry about what to wear to work, we will supply you with a uniform.
How often do I get paid? This can vary depending on whether you work in a franchised or company‑owned restaurant. Typically, it can be every 2 or 4 weeks for hourly‑paid employees, and monthly for employees on a dedicated salary.
