Job Overview

The Catering Department at Prince Philip Hospital is looking to recruit a Catering Assistant to help with cleaning and catering services within the department. The successful candidate will play an integral role in ensuring that food is prepared, delivered, and the department is cleaned to the highest standard.

Contract details: 1x30 hour post, 4 days a week (Monday to Sunday) including bank holidays as required with additional payment for those days. Working hours are between 06:00 am and 20:00 pm. Uniform is provided. The role is flexible across cooking, kitchen portering, restaurant and pot washing duties, with full training provided.

• Cooking duties – prepare high‑quality meals for patients and visitors, adhering to all food safety regulations.
• Kitchen porter – assist the cook with all aspects of food provision, deep‑clean the kitchen area, and keep equipment and area tidy.
• Restaurant – provide front‑of‑house customer service, restock and maintain a clean environment, and handle card/cash payments.
• Pot wash – operate the industrial dishwashing machine, ensure items are washed and returned promptly, maintain clean pot wash area.
• Training in several areas for operational flexibility.

• Competent cook/chef.
• Strong attention to hygiene and cleanliness.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to work shift schedule, including evenings and bank holidays.
• Desirable: able to speak Welsh. English and Welsh are required.
