Position: Buyer 12mth FTC

Extremely successful, market leading food retailer with significant turnover.
Highly commercial environment with a fast‑paced culture focused on exceeding customer expectations.
This Buyer role is a new position and is ideal for an individual who wants to progress their career in a growing retailer. Potential for role to become permanent.
Excellent flexible working – 3 days a week in the office and the rest from home (offer flexible hours).

The role

As a 12‑month fixed‑term contractor you will develop, implement, and review a customer‑centric category strategy for a specific food category, creating innovative buying strategies that exceed customer expectations.
Deliver the category vision, focus on growing cash sales and margin, and build long‑lasting mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers.
Source new suppliers and products that excite consumers and create value, choice, and quality, thereby driving sales and margin.
Develop promotional plans and in‑store activations that drive footfall and consumer value perception.
Develop and manage a cost‑reduction strategy that delivers targeted margin, and demonstrate a strong understanding of market dynamics and commodities.
Use data and insights to work with internal and external stakeholders – merchandising, marketing, and retail operations – to drive strategy delivery.
Demonstrate hands‑on buying experience and negotiate directly with suppliers using varied tactics and styles.
Show a passion for the customer, product, and commerciality.
Communicate and influence with internal and external stakeholders, building strong relationships.
Apply insight and data‑analysis skills to action opportunities that drive profit.
Plan, organise, and work independently as a self‑starter with a can‑do attitude.
