Position: Children & Young People's Support Worker

Overview

In this meaningful and varied role, you will provide specialist support to children, young people and their families who are navigating illness, bereavement and significant life changes. Youll collaborate with colleagues across the organisation to develop workshops, activities and events that help young people understand their experiences and feel less alone.

Responsibilities
  • Providing high quality support services to patients and families in line with Compton Cares Support Services Framework.
  • Delivering support to patients and their families throughout the patients illness and into bereavement.
  • Planning and delivering workshops, activity programmes and events for children and young people.
  • Creating and facilitating sessions focused on navigating key milestones such as Fathers/Mothers Day, Christmas, birthdays and anniversaries, as well as memory making and reminiscence workshops.
  • Developing a calendar of social events where children and young people can connect with others experiencing similar challenges, helping to build a safe, supported peer community.
  • Providing one to one sessions for children and young people who are bereaved or have a loved one with an incurable illness, helping them prepare for loss and cope with grief.
  • Delivering workshops for adults to equip them with the skills and confidence to support bereaved children and young people.
  • Offering education, guidance and information to staff and the public on bereavement, loss, change, and related psychological issues.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • You will have significant experience of providing support for children and/or young people where you have facilitated both one to one and group work and provided education and awareness.
  • You will hold training relevant to bereavement to support you in your role.
  • Highly developed communication skills are essential.
