L&D Specialist - Children's Services

We have a unique opportunity for a practitioner to join our team on a one-year fixed-term basis.

While Social Work registration is desirable, we would also consider candidates who have demonstrable practice experience with case work for children and their families and risk management. Appointment will be made to either the Learning and Development Specialist (NJC 34) or Learning and Development Advisor (NJC 25) position, depending on whether the successful candidate holds Social Work registration and meets the requirements of the relevant role profile.

34 -£45,091 (dependent on Social Work Registration)

Learning and Development Advisor NJC
25 -£36,363 if not Social Work registered qualified.

With practice across children s services as your specialism, you will design, develop and deliver a comprehensive programme of learning that supports children, young people and families, including effective practice for managers and practitioners.

As we continue the development of AcademyNEL, this pivotal role will be instrumental in designing and delivering innovative learning and development opportunities that strengthen practice across Children s Services and partner organisations.

Working as part of an established team of learning and development professionals, you will play a critical role in the design, development and implementation of a broad range of learning initiatives. You will help shape and enhance AcademyNEL s learning offer and have a fantastic opportunity to make your mark on its continued transformation and growth.

We want you to be the catalyst that inspires others to develop their knowledge, skills and confidence to deliver the very best support to children, young people and families.

You will have significant experience of working directly with children, young people and families, alongside a genuine passion for learning and development. You may come from a range of practitioner backgrounds, but you will be able to demonstrate a strong track record of completing assessments and developing effective plans to support children, young people and their families.

You will have experience of working collaboratively with a range of agencies and professionals to improve outcomes, identifying, assessing and managing risk, and applying your knowledge of Early Help, Family Help and Social Work interventions in practice.

You will also have experience of supporting practitioners to develop effective, evidence-informed practice and will be skilled at translating your knowledge, experience and expertise into meaningful and impactful learning opportunities that make a real difference to practice and outcomes.

The role involves identifying learning needs, designing and developing both face‑to‑face and digital learning content, facilitating engaging learning sessions, and evaluating the impact of learning interventions to ensure they deliver positive outcomes.
