Location: Bourne End
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Instrumentation, Control & Automation (ICA) or Control and Instrumentation (C&I) technician to join our Water Production team in Bourne End. This is a mobile role, where you would be required to work on various water treatment works around the East Thames Valley area.
Key Responsibilities- Install, commission, maintain, and repair water production assets, including level instrumentation, flow meters, and Tand VM’s turbidity monitors.
- Work with technology such as SCADA systems, associated PLCs, and process control networks.
- Liaise with and supervise contractors and suppliers where necessary.
- Investigate asset failures and implement repairs swiftly to avoid interruptions to the water supply process.
- Provide specialist technical advice and training support for technical apprentices.
- Ideally HNC level or NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) in an instrumentation, control and automation discipline.
- Preferably an 18th Edition (BS7671) qualification.
- Good practical understanding of operational plant and control systems.
- Understanding of Wonderware and Clear
SCADA is desirable. - Foundational knowledge of low‑voltage (LV) systems.
- Knowledge and experience with relay logic and PLCs (Rockwell & Allen‑Bradley), including management and programming.
- Ability to read and fault‑find from circuit diagrams and experience with inverter drives.
- Experience in calibration and maintenance of front‑line instrumentation.
- Problem‑solving skills: identify issues, implement solutions, or appropriately escalated.
- Excellent communication skills; able to provide technical expertise to internal and external staff and contractors.
- Resilient, adaptable to changing pressures and environments.
- Work independently with minimum supervision, using own initiative to design and adhere to standards.
- Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues relevant to the industry.
- Team player who respects others, gives constructive feedback, and supports development of colleagues.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Competitive salary between £41,000 – £57,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
- Contributory pension – defined contribution with a maximum of 12 % and 2 × employee contribution.
- Annual leave: 24 days per year (increasing to 28 with service length), plus bank holidays.

Base Location – Contractually based at Bourne End WTW, Wendover Road, Bourne End, SL8 5NT

Working Pattern – 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 3:36 pm, plus standby and overtime opportunity upon completion of essential company training.
Equipment – All PPE, tools, a company van, and a fuel card are provided.
