Accounting & Finance Support Accountant

Position: Accounting & Finance Support Accountant  Up to £25 / year
Opus People Solutions are hiring for a Support Accountant within a Local Authority client based in East Suffolk.

The role is 37 hours per week, offering hybrid working (2 days on-site in Melton), and £25.00 per hour Umbrella (£19.00 PAYE), with a contract length of 3 months. Please see a high-level overview of what the position involves below:
* Supporting Finance Business Partners with budget monitoring, forecasting and financial reporting.
* Assisting with budget setting, year-end accounts processes and reconciliations.
* Providing financial advice and support to budget holders, service managers and heads of service.
* Supporting revenue and capital budget management across council service areas.
* Assisting with fees and charges reviews, statutory returns and financial management projects.
* Working with financial systems and Excel to analyse, monitor and report financial information.

The ideal candidate will have experience with:
* Budget monitoring, forecasting and financial reporting.
* Reconciliations and year-end accounting processes.
* Financial systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
* Supporting non-finance stakeholders and communicating financial information clearly.
* AAT qualification (or significant relevant finance experience).
* Previous experience within Local Government.
