Systems Architect

Location: Iselin, NJ

Salary: $67.00 USD Hourly – $72.00 USD Hourly

Work Arrangement: Onsite 3 days per week, full workday (8 hours). Video required for virtual meetings.

We are seeking an Application Security Architect to lead threat modeling for applications, services, and platforms. This role is ideal for a systems builder with a security mindset—someone who understands traditional enterprise systems and can embed security into modern development practices.

You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to analyze architectures, identify threats, and design mitigation strategies. This is a hands‑on role requiring strong technical depth, automation skills, and experience with secure development practices.

• Partner with application, service, and platform teams to document and analyze system architectures.
• Develop and maintain threat models using industry‑standard methodologies and tools.
• Identify, prioritize, and propose mitigations for security threats.
• Review designs, configurations, and source code for evidence of threat mitigations.
• Publish and present threat modeling results to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Cybersecurity Architecture to create new controls where gaps exist.
• Automate security processes and integrate security logic into CI/CD pipelines and microservices.
• Build tooling, integrate APIs, and leverage AI agents for analysis and code review.

• 4 years in Systems Architecture and/or Systems Development.
• 3 years in Cybersecurity (or equivalent experience via work, training, military, or education).
• 1 year hands‑on experience with Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or AWS.
• 1 year experience in Python programming; ability to read Java and C#.
• Proficiency in at least one threat modeling methodology (e.g., STRIDE, PASTA, OCTAVE, LINDDUN, VAST).
• Experience with threat modeling tools (e.g., Threat Modeler, Microsoft Threat Modeling Tool, OWASP Threat Dragon).
• Strong understanding of OWASP Top 10, CAPEC, MITRE ATT&CK, and secure design principles.
• Ability to manage multiple threat models concurrently with urgency and quality.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.

• Security and cloud certifications (CISSP, CCSP, Azure/Google Cloud Platform/AWS).
• 3 years leading architecture risk reviews and building threat models.
• Experience with Threat Modeling for GenAI and Threat Modeling‑as‑Code (TaaC).
• Familiarity with enterprise systems (Web Logic, Web Sphere) and foundational architecture principles.
• AI experience (professional or personal projects).

• A developer who transitioned into security—not just a security professional with light development experience.
• Someone who can deconstruct large enterprise applications, identify architectural flaws, and build secure systems.
• A proactive problem‑solver who thrives in fast‑paced environments and embraces automation.

• Must report onsite at least 3 days per week.
• If based in Dallas, must work East Coast hours (7:00 AM – 4:00 PM CST).
