Position Summary

The AVP, Claims Program Manager primary responsibility will be for the strategic oversight of the roadmaps and program status reporting for the various IT projects and initiatives happening in the Global Claims space. This role is vital in ensuring that our communication and messaging are aligned with overall IT Program Management and that we provide clear and concise status on roadmaps and deliverables.

This role will also play a critical role in resource optimization, budgeting and planning as well as risk monitoring and mitigation.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Portfolio Oversight:

    Overseeing and managing a portfolio of IT projects and programs, encompassing project selection, prioritization, and resource allocation.
  • Resource Optimization:

    Optimizing resource allocation across IT projects to ensure efficient use of resources and maximize value. This includes identifying and addressing resource gaps.
  • Risk Management & Governance:

    Identifying and mitigating risks associated with IT initiatives, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and organizational standards. This also involves monitoring and managing portfolio risks and controls.
  • Performance Monitoring:

    Monitoring and reporting on the performance and progress of IT projects, including tracking KPIs and OKRs. This may involve performance attribution analysis to explain variations.
  • Stakeholder Management:

    Building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders across the organization, including business leaders and IT teams, to facilitate communication and ensure alignment.
  • Process Improvement:

    Developing and implementing portfolio management processes and best practices, as well as supporting continuous improvement efforts. This includes establishing and maintaining robust work intake processes.>

Compensation

The below annualized base pay range is a broad range based on analysis of similar positions in the market. The actual base pay for the position may be above or below the listed range and determined by a number of considerations, including but not limited to complexity, location, and scope of the role, along with experience, skills, education, training, and other conditions of employment.

Base salary represents one compensation of Allied World comprehensive total reward package, which may also include annual incentive compensation rewards.

$145,000 - $155,000

Professional Experience / Qualifications
  • Minimum 5-10 years relevant job experience in project/portfolio management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or a relevant field is desirable.
  • General insurance experience / knowledge of insurance principles and process is preferred.
  • IT Project and Portfolio Management:
    Experience with IT project or portfolio management is crucial.
  • Project Management Methodologies:
    Solid understanding of project management methodologies specifically Agile.
  • Portfolio Management Tools:
    Experience with portfolio management tools and software is required preferably Jira and Jira Align.
  • Financial Acumen:
    Knowledge of budgeting, financial analysis, and cost management related to IT investments.
  • Analytical

    Skills:

    Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to evaluate portfolio performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Communication & Interpersonal

    Skills:

    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels.
