This role requires associates to be in-office 1‑2 days per week to foster collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work‑life balance. Alternate locations may be considered if candidates reside within a commuting distance from an office. The Group Underwriting Consultant Senior is responsible for determining the acceptability of insurance risks and appropriate premium rates for large and complex group cases. This position is the most senior technical underwriting expert.

• Proposes rates for prospective business utilizing a combination of incumbent experience, demographic/census data and manual rates.
• Owns all Underwriting pieces of the RFP for larger, more complex new business opportunities, including rate/fee development, rate/fee templates and financial questions.
• Drives any escalation required with limits of authority review.
• Performs post‑sale reviews and management reporting, as applicable.
• Coordinates with other departments to ensure accuracy and consistency of overall account reporting.
• Prepares any benefit change increments and decrements.
• Assists in establishing rating and administrative procedures.
• Participates in major multi‑functional teams as underwriting representative, as applicable.
• Assists in the technical development of underwriting associates, including mentoring, on‑job training, and peer review.
• Demonstrates leadership by recommending and guiding efficiency improvements, process changes or any other opportunities to improve the Underwriters workflow/toolset.
• Negotiates, collaborates, partners with internal Sales leads/management and engages in Broker discussions/meetings, as applicable.

Requires a BA/BS in a related field; minimum 7 years of related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

• CPCU, CLU, LOMA, HIAA, PAHM or other insurance related courses preferred.
