- Coordinate ocean import and export shipments with clients, overseas agents, carriers and customs brokers.
- Monitor cargo throughout transit and provide clients and overseas agents with timely updates.
- Submit shipping instructions to steamship lines, file AES and issue house bills of lading.
- Review invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, customs declarations and shipper’s letters of instruction.
- Ensure customs entries and AES filings are submitted accurately and on time.
- File ISF and/or AMS as required.
- Maintain complete and accurate shipment files.
- Communicate with carriers and customs brokers to facilitate customs clearance.
- Analyze shipping costs and identify opportunities for cost optimization.
- Act as the primary contact for clients and overseas agents, responding to inquiries and resolving operational issues.
- Build strong working relationships with clients and overseas agents to understand their shipping requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Experience in ocean import/export operations and freight forwarding.
- Strong understanding of international trade regulations, Incoterms and customs procedures.
- Knowledge of import and export documentation and filing requirements.
- Experience with AES, HBL, ISF and/or AMS processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities simultaneously.
