Opportunity

As a Senior Manager in our Global Trade practice, you will use your experience and technical knowledge to be a leader of the U.S. duty drawback program, focusing your responsibility for the program’s ongoing development, management and growth of the service offering. The role will oversee the preparation and filing of drawback claims in strict compliance with all applicable U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations.

It will also require proactive development of new client relationships with executives responsible for the management of global trade functional areas within their companies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Delivery & Technical Leadership
    • Lead and oversee end-to-end drawback programs: opportunity assessments, scoping, data diagnostics, rule mapping, claim build, filings, and accelerated payment readiness.
    • Interpret and apply 19 CFR Part 190 (TFTEA), including substitution standards, manufacturing drawback, unused/returned merchandise, rejected merchandise, and waste/by‑product treatment.
    • Design methodology for commercial interchangeability and substitution under TFTEA; establish defensible correlation across HTS classifications, specifications, and supply chain documentation.
    • Architect data models linking import entries (CBP/ACE) to exports (AES), bills of materials, production records, inventory movements, and sales—ensuring auditability and chain‑of‑custody.
    • Manage claim calculations, duty/tax/fee components (including MPF, HMF where applicable), timelines, and retroactive lookback periods; oversee reconciliation and prior disclosure strategies when appropriate.
    • Prepare clients for CBP audits, exams, and desk reviews; draft and review technical memos, legal/regulatory interpretations, and internal controls documentation.
    • Drive process automation (e.g., Alteryx/SQL/Python), dashboards (Power BI/Tableau), and ACE data extraction workflows to improve accuracy and throughput.
  • Go‑to‑Market & Growth
    • Drive the firm’s duty drawback value proposition: develop thought leadership, solution collateral, pricing models, and delivery playbooks.
    • Partner with industry teams (Consumer, Retail, Industrials, Automotive, Life Sciences, Technology, Chemicals) to tailor sector‑specific methodologies.
    • Lead pursuits: discovery, proposal writing, oral presentations, scoping, and contracting; meet or exceed bookings, margin, and utilization targets.
  • Practice Building & People Leadership
    • Build and mentor a diverse team of customs professionals, data analysts, and project managers; set performance expectations and coach for growth.
    • Implement delivery standards (PMO discipline, QA/QC, documentation, knowledge management) and reusable assets to enable scale.
    • Foster a culture of ethics and compliance; reinforce CBP, BIS, OFAC awareness and escalation protocols.
  • Risk & Quality
    • Establish robust internal controls for drawback programs: data governance, segregation of duties, exception handling, and version control.
    • Conduct pre‑filing reviews, root‑cause analysis on claim denials, and remediation plans; maintain a risk register and issue log.
Skills And Attributes For Success
  • Staying current on global trade developments and work to develop new and innovative service offerings that can deliver value to our clients.
  • The ability to proactively engage clients to describe and market our value‑added global trade services and deliver high‑quality project deliverables.
  • Successful project management experience with excellent organizational skills, strong motivation, and a positive attitude; delivering a quality work product each and every time.
  • Supervising a motivated team of professionals; supporting them in the development of the skills, knowledge and opportunities to reach their full potential.
