Posting Summary

Position:
Part Time Staff Nurse – Adult Diagnostic Treatment Center, Avenel, NJ. The Staff Nurse utilizes the nursing process to deliver ambulatory care, works with healthcare professionals and security staff, follows nursing protocols, and functions as a team leader as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct and indirect nursing care to meet physiological, psychosocial, and emotional needs of inmate patients and their families.
• Utilizes effective communication skills, demonstrating respect, concern, and courtesy in all interpersonal relationships.
• Attends in‑services and continuing education to maintain necessary skills.
• Participates in providing education to inmates, security officers, and the healthcare team.
• Participates in instructional meetings and educational programs as a contributor or teacher.

Salary

Grade 01D – Minimum $37,230;
Mid‑Range $46,540;
Maximum $54,050.

Position Status

Part Time – 20 hours per week, full‑time onsite arrangement.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing and hold a license to practice in New Jersey.
• CPR certification.
• RN license in New Jersey.
• Valid driver’s license; possession of a vehicle or alternative transportation between sites.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent.
• Minimum one year of experience in a correctional setting.

Special Conditions

Must be approved by the Department of Corrections and comply with DOC requirements.

Immunization Requirements

Proof of influenza vaccination may be required during flu season; failure to provide may result in rescission or disciplinary action.
