Posting SummaryRutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking a
* Part-time Staff Nurse
* for the Adult Diagnostic Treatment Center, located in Avenel, NJ. The UCHC Staff Nurse utilizes the nursing process to meet a variety of health-care needs with ambulatory care as a primary focus; works with a variety of health-care professionals and security officers in a correctional environment; frequently functions guided by nursing protocols; and functions as a team leader as assigned.
- Provides direct and indirect nursing care to meet physiological, psychosocial and emotional needs of the inmate-patient, including adults (18–64 years) and geriatrics (65+) and their families within the framework established by the correctional system.
- Utilizes effective communication skills by demonstrating respect, concern and courtesy in all interpersonal relationships.
- Attends appropriate in-services and continuing education offerings to obtain and maintain necessary skills.
- Participates in offering education to inmates, security officers and other members of the health-care team.
- Participates in in-service meetings and educational programs either as attendee or as a teacher, as arranged and approved by the supervisor.

Working Hours: 20 hours per week (standard 40.00 hours)

Terms:
Staff – 12 month
Salary: Minimum $37,230;
Mid-range $46,540;
Maximum $54,050
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing with a license to practice in the State of New Jersey.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a correctional setting (preferred).
- Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) or its equivalent (preferred).
- CPR Certification
- RN license in New Jersey
- Valid driver’s license; vehicle or other means of transportation required.
Must be able to perform CPR for at least 10 minutes. Must lift and carry an emergency treatment bag weighing up to 45 pounds, and assist in lifting and rotating patients weighing up to 50 pounds.
Special ConditionsMust be approved by the Department of Corrections and adhere to all DOC requirements.
