Senior Staff Accountant with Security Clearance

St. Michael's Inc. is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to join our finance team in Woodbridge, VA. This full‑time hybrid position requires a strong accounting background and security clearance.

• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
• Prepare internal management reports.
• Analyze variances and investigate discrepancies to ensure data accuracy.
• Maintain and enforce internal controls and accounting policies.
• Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Prepare invoices and billings.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
• Support process improvements and accounting system enhancements.
• Mentor and support junior accounting staff as needed.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong working knowledge of US GAAP.
• Experience with month‑end and year‑end close processes.
• Proficiency with accounting systems (Quick Books Desktop) and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team.
