Alterations Specialist – David's Bridal
As an Alterations Specialist, you will complete all fittings and alterations to the high standards of David's Bridal and report to the Store Manager. You are responsible for exemplifying friendly, knowledgeable, and technical expertise while providing superior customer service. You will also act as a key member of the store team, demonstrating the value and qualities of the David’s Bridal brand.
EssentialJob Functions
- Welcome all customers with genuine, friendly enthusiasm over the phone, virtual chats, and in person, communicating clearly and concisely while problem‑solving and resolving conflict.
- Use all systems to manage customer flow and deliver a five‑star customer experience.
- Maintain service levels by being prepared, welcoming, and attentive, meeting both operational checkpoints and customers’ emotional and practical needs.
- Provide an exceptional service experience to multiple customers simultaneously and help the store achieve five‑star customer service.
- Proactively address customer concerns with confidence, escalating when necessary and partnering with leadership.
- Explain how alterations can play a vital role in perfecting a dress for an event, promoting all alteration services and personalization options.
- Assist stylists in closing sales by consulting with customers about gown fit and customization.
- Maintain store standards to support a flawless shopping experience.
- Maintain a high standard of dress that complies with the Dress Code Policy.
- Greet and escort all alteration customers to and from appointment rooms.
- Maintain quality control guidelines, inspecting all garments prior to final delivery.
- Respond promptly to customer questions by providing product and service information.
- Build long‑term relationships with customers to exceed satisfaction and loyalty.
- Manage inventory by processing special orders, pick‑ups, and ensuring first‑quality standards for all merchandise.
- Ensure alteration pricing meets company standards.
- Manage all alterations, fittings, sewing, steaming, pressing, and spot cleaning to company standards.
- Resolve customer service issues swiftly and effectively in compliance with company guidelines.
- Support all cash wrap behaviors and process transactions accurately to celebrate each customer.
- Keep the alterations room consistently clean and well‑organized.
- Stand, walk, and sit for extended periods; reach, lift up to 10 pounds, and use manual dexterity for POS, steaming, sewing, and fittings.
- Perform tasks in a shift which may include kneeling, crouching, and using tools with hands and arms.
- Be able to see up close and at a distance, and use devices for extended periods.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1–2 years of prior retail experience in an apparel or specialty store.
- Prior sewing experience, preferably in bridal or special occasion production.
- Prior experience with a computerized POS system is a plus.
