Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supervising daily activities in production of asphalt
  • Daily operation of asphalt plant including producing and loading- scaling trucks as they load out
  • Monitor material quality, inspect, and troubleshoot material, working closely with quality control and asphalt manager
  • Calibrate plant for maximum efficiency
  • Perform daily equipment walk around and site inspections to identify and correct any unsafe conditions and keep equipment properly maintained
  • Direct and/or perform maintenance and repairs on equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and problem solve issues related to material, quality, equipment, and operation. Repair and eliminate or minimize the causes in the future by implementing preventative procedures.
  • Monitor and discuss production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors
  • Daily safety meetings and enforcing safety standards
  • Hiring and training employees in all phases of production and equipment
  • Coach and monitor team members and sites to comply with OSHA, MSHA, EPA, DNR, lockout/tagout, and safety and environmental regulation compliance
  • Approve and submit work hours of personnel and pertinent job information daily
  • Record pertinent information accurately and relay production, quality, equipment, and personnel information to appropriate individuals
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Education:

    Minimum High School Diploma. Technical school or similar with emphasis in heavy equipment for manufacturing helpful.
  • Asphalt production knowledge:
    Minimum 2 years
  • Ability to navigate computer software systems
  • Communicate effectively (verbal, written, listening) and work with difficult people under high stress situations
  • Self motivated, team player who has ability to maintain positive customer relations and be courteous/respectful of others
  • Must have valid license and clean driving record
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Ability to travel. Position requires travel during peak work season.
