Basic PurposeThe Sr. Transportation Coordinator supports transportation and logistics functions, manages backhaul activities, and optimizes all transportation and logistics processes.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesTransportation:
- Answer all incoming calls to resolve driver, sales representative and customer issues; communicate route updates.
- Use software (MS Excel, Omnitracs, Tandem, Kronos, etc.) to create, update, and communicate reports and files. Examples: attendance, DVIRs, backhaul spreadsheets, delivery window dispatch, driver key log, trailer temp log, transportation route update, network update.
- Complete damages and shorts process by notifying vendors and drivers to resolve issues and complete associated paperwork.
- Support training and development of junior clerical teammates.
- Other duties as assigned by manager.
Backhaul and Logistics:
- Communicate key information to support backhaul and transportation operations.
- Coordinate logistics by scheduling pickups for backhaul orders and vendors, optimizing routes and minimizing costs while ensuring compliance.
- Research new backhaul opportunities with buyers and replenishment managers.
- Complete necessary paperwork and communicate backhaul/logistics information.
- Other duties as assigned by manager.
- Monday‑Friday
- 1st Shift: 5:30 am – 2:00 pm
- 2nd Shift: 11:00 am – 7:30 pm
Base rate: $19.00 – $29.00 per hour. Overtime compensation as applicable.

Relationships- Internal:
Operations, transportation, warehouse personnel, drivers. - External:
Vendors.
- Desk‑based office work with occasional work in warehouse environments, including cooler and freezer areas (temperatures as low as
-5 °F).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in warehouse administrative or clerical position; prior logistics, transportation, and/or warehouse experience required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Excellent telephone and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple functions in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong math, analytical, organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).
- Problem‑solving and critical thinking abilities.
- Strong teamwork skills.
- High school diploma or GED/equivalent required.
- Knowledge of DOT Hours of Service Regulations.
- Knowledge of geographic delivery area.
- Experience with Omnitracs, Tandem, Kronos, XATA, Manhattan, Power Dock, Airclic preferred.
- Stand occasionally.
- Walk occasionally.
- Sit frequently.
