The Barbara
C. Wilson Preschool serves 15 classrooms of children with a variety of developmental needs including those with autism spectrum disorder, speech and language disorders and related developmental disorders.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
- Working towards a valid New York State Certificate as a Teaching Assistant, Level I within six (6) months of employment.
- Fingerprint and SCR clearance required.
- EXPERIENCE AND SPECIAL
SKILLS:
Experience working with preschool special education population - Ability to communicate effectively and work effectively and cooperatively.
- Experience working with preschool population preferred.
Primary duties and responsibilities include but no limited to:
Provide direct instructional services to students under the general supervision of a licensed or certified special education teacher. Assist the assigned teacher as requested in all areas of the daily classroom routine. Assist the children as requested by the teacher; maintain health and safety of the classroom environment by performing assigned tasks; prepare classroom materials as requested by teacher. Assists psychologists, behavioral personnel and educational staff with the implementation of school wide positive behavioral support systems.
Classroom assignment is subject to change based on program needs.
