Garry Executive Search has been engaged by a growing independent wealth management firm in the Twin Cities to identify an Associate Financial Planner. This role is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional with 2–5 years of financial services experience who is ready to step into advanced planning responsibilities, support complex client cases, and grow toward becoming a lead advisor.

Depending on your background, you may know this type of role as a Paraplanner, Wealth Planning Associate, or Wealth Management Associate. Whatever the title, this position is designed to put you on a clear career path to Financial Planner.

The Role:

You’ll work closely with senior advisors to deliver sophisticated planning strategies, support client relationships, and gain hands-on experience in all aspects of comprehensive wealth management. The firm will fully support your pursuit of the CFP designation, including exam fees and study resources.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare financial plan updates, scenario analyses, and portfolio reports
• Support advisors in client meetings and manage detailed follow-up workflows
• Assist with retirement, tax, estate, and insurance planning strategies
• Oversee client paperwork, account maintenance, and insurance cases from application to delivery
• Collaborate with internal specialists and external professionals on client cases
• Help drive firm efficiency through technology and process improvements

What We’re Looking For:

• 2–5 years of experience in financial services (planning, wealth management, or related advisory role preferred)
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field
• Commitment to obtaining CFP certification within 2 years (firm covers costs)
• Experience in a client-facing, professional services environment
• Familiarity with financial planning software (eMoney, Money Guide Pro , or similar)
• Strong communication skills, analytical ability, and professional maturity
• Team-oriented, proactive, and aligned with a fiduciary standard of care
• Must be within commuting distance of Woodbury, MN
• Salary: $65,000–$85,000, commensurate with experience
• CFP Salary Enhancement: +$5,000 upon certification
• Annual merit-based reviews and raises
