Position: Registered Behavior Technician I

Registered Behavior Technician 1

The Registered Behavior Technician 1 is responsible for implementing behavior intervention plans, conducting assessments, collecting data, and assisting the BCBA in developing treatment strategies for individuals with behavioral and developmental challenges. The Advanced RBT demonstrates a higher level of competency, expertise, and decision‑making ability compared to a standard RBT.

Essential Functions
  • Behavior Intervention:
    Implement behavior intervention plans developed by the BCBA to address behavioral goals and objectives of clients.
  • Data Collection and Analysis:
    Accurately collect data on client behaviors and outcomes, analyzing data to make informed decisions regarding treatment adjustments.
  • Assessment Support:
    Assist the BCBA in conducting assessments, including functional behavior assessments (FBAs) and other relevant assessments to inform treatment planning.
  • Program Development:
    Collaborate with the BCBA to develop individualized treatment plans that address the specific needs and goals of each client.
  • Training and

    Coaching:

    Provide training and coaching to other team members on behavior intervention strategies, data collection methods, and reinforcement techniques.
  • Documentation:
    Maintain detailed and accurate records of client progress, behavior data, and treatment implementation. Prepare and submit progress reports as required.
  • Crisis Management:
    Respond appropriately to crisis situations using approved crisis intervention techniques, ensuring the safety and well‑being of clients and team members.
  • Collaboration:

    Work closely with the BCBA and other team members to ensure consistent and effective implementation of behavior intervention plans and strategies.
  • Professional Development:
    Stay current with the latest developments and best practices in the field of ABA by participating in ongoing training, workshops, and professional development opportunities.
  • Ethical Standards:
    Adhere to the ethical guidelines and professional standards set forth by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) and relevant state regulations.
  • Creates session notes and converts time within 24 hours.
  • Delivers Treatment to clients 85 % of hours worked.
Non‑Essential Functions
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Travel Required
  • Travel is seldomly required with use of personal vehicle.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the teammate may be exposed to a client that exhibits physically aggressive behavior which can include kicking, pinching, punching, biting, etc. The teammate may have to use appropriate behavior management techniques frequently with a client under such circumstances. Such response requires agility, quick reflexes, and the ability to use physically evasive movement. The teammate will be constantly required to stand, walk, sit, grasp, reach, bend, kneel, crouch and squat.

The teammate must be able to independently and repeatedly lift, move and carry objects weighing up to thirty‑five (35) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near, far, and field of vision. Speech must be spoken in a manner easily understood by others. This position requires regular and punctual teammate presence.

Qualifications Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience
  • In general, 12+ months experience working hands on with ABA clients.
  • RBT Certification.
  • Strong understanding of and ability to widely implement ABA programming.
  • Maintenance of successful CORES evaluations/assessments.
Skills and Competencies
  • RBT Certification:
    To work as an RBT, individuals must obtain RBT certification, which involves completing a 40‑hour training program, passing a competency assessment, and meeting ongoing supervision requirements.
  • Clear Background Check: RBTs usually need to pass a background check to work with vulnerable populations.
  • Compassion and Patience:
    Working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities requires empathy, compassion, and patience.
  • Communication

    Skills:

    Effective communication with clients, their families, and the behavior analysis team is essential.
  • Collaboration:

    RBTs must be able to work collaboratively with the supervising BCBA/BCaBA and other team members to ensure the best outcomes for the individual.
Other
  • Must be 18 years old or older.
  • Every Caravel teammate is expected to maintain Confidentiality, Integrity, and availability (CIA) with reference to PHI and PII data of patients, parents, teammates, and vendors. It is the responsibility of each individual teammate to protect and inform data breaches immediately to the Security & Compliance Officer’s.
