Position Summary
Minnesota Eye Consultants (MEC) is hiring a full-time (1.0 FTE) Ophthalmic Technician I for the Woodbury clinic. This role performs measurements and tests to provide physicians with the information needed for diagnosis and treatment. The position works primarily with Doctors of Optometry but may also care for patients of other MEC providers within the technician’s skill‑set. Starting pay is $20.00–23.00/hour.
Location / ScheduleMonday–Friday, 7:30 am–5:00 pm, with occasional half‑days on Saturday. The primary location is the Woodbury clinic, but the technician may be scheduled to work shifts at other MEC locations (Bloomington, Blaine, Minnetonka) as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Welcome and acknowledge all patients and guests according to company standards, anticipate and address service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and thank others with genuine appreciation.
- Obtain complete patient histories, including chief complaint, past ocular/medical history, family medical/ocular history, and history of allergies and medications.
- Perform and document subjective and objective ophthalmic testing efficiently to provide basic information necessary for ophthalmic examinations. This includes history, visual acuities, lensometry (manual and auto), refractometry, keratometry (manual and automated), visual fields, tonometry, and assistance with office procedures.
- Educate patients regarding diagnostic testing and their clinic visit.
- Open and close exam rooms, ensuring all equipment is clean and ready for the doctor; stock all necessary supplies.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of direct patient care experience within an eye clinic or as a Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant, or LPN.
- Optometry or Ophthalmology experience preferred but not required.
