Purpose Brands is seeking a seasoned Senior Platform Engineer IV to help shape the technical direction of our platform engineering function - the team responsible for core CI/CD, Infrastructure-as-Code, and cloud platform services that power our global brands, including Anytime Fitness and Orange theory Fitness.
In this senior-level role, you will act as a subject-matter expert and mentor, driving strategic automation and infrastructure initiatives across AWS and Azure. You’ll lead cross-functional efforts, contribute to the technical roadmap for key platform components, and ensure that our cloud foundations and Dev Ops practices are scalable, cost-efficient, and secure.
** Purpose/Impact: (Duties & Essential Functions)
**** Platform Engineering & Automation (50%)
*** Lead the design, implementation, and lifecycle management of Terraform modules and Git Hub Actions workflows adopted across multiple brands and teams.
* Architect cloud-native Infrastructure-as-Code patterns for AWS (ECS Fargate, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, Cloud Front) and Azure (App Services, AKS, Storage).
* Establish secure CI/CD guardrails and policy-as-code frameworks leveraging OIDC federation and centralized governance.
* Partner with Security and Cloud Engineering to evolve our observability strategy (Dynatrace, Cloud Watch, Ops Genie) with a focus on cost optimization and data driven insight.
* Lead automation initiatives that improve compliance, resilience, and operational efficiency (tagging, key rotation, auto-remediation).
** Cross-Team Leadership (30%)
*** Serve as a trusted advisor for application and product teams (front-end and back-end) adopting platform patterns and IaC standards.
* Drive architectural reviews and decision records that influence how cloud resources are provisioned, secured, and observed enterprise-wide.
* Collaborate with stakeholders across product, engineering, security, and operations to translate business priorities into technical initiatives.
* Represent Platform Engineering in cross-department forums, helping align roadmaps and budget plans (cloud spend visibility).
** Governance, Enablement & Mentorship (20%)
*** Own the evolution and audit of our Platform Engineering standards and best practices.
* Lead training and mentorship programs for engineers across teams, fostering skill growth in IaC, CI/CD, and cloud operations.
* Participate in hiring and onboarding processes to build a high-performing, collaborative team.
* Translate strategic objectives into actionable roadmaps and measure outcomes through clear success metrics.## ## Strengths and Background
* 7+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, Dev Ops, or Cloud Infrastructure roles.
* Demonstrated expertise with Terraform and Git Hub Actions (or equivalent CI/CD systems).
* Deep hands-on knowledge of AWS and/or Azure architectures, networking, IAM, and monitoring strategies.
* Proven track record leading cross-team initiatives and driving architecture decisions at scale.
* Experience implementing observability and alerting solutions (Dynatrace, Cloud Watch, Ops Genie) for distributed systems.
* Strong understanding of CI/CD best practices, security automation, and policy-as-code frameworks.
* Ability to mentor junior engineers and contribute to organizational technical maturity.
* Excellent communication skills - able to translate complex technical concepts for varied audiences.
** Preferred Strengths and Background
*** Experience designing and operating multi-account AWS Landing Zones or Azure Enterprise Scaffold environments.
* Advanced knowledge of Kubernetes (Argo CD, EKS, AKS, Rancher Desktop) and container platform governance.
* Proficiency in Python, Power Shell, or Bash for infrastructure automation and tooling.
* Exposure to Dynatrace DPS or Grail and APM for Fargate or Serverless workloads.
