As a CNC Operator at CenterPoint, you will be responsible for using the CNC machinery to perform functions such as cutting, drilling, and finishing parts to ensure components of various types, sizes, weight and thickness to meet specifications. CAD abilities and experience highly desired.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and operate CNC router to perform tasks such as routing, drilling etc.
- Understand specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings etc.
- Translate instructions into computer commands so the CNC can perform the correct function.
- Prepare and load raw (wood) materials and parts onto the CNC.
- Prepare a test run to check if the machines produce outputs according to specifications.
- Set machines to complete full cycles to fabricate large number of parts.
- Watch the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result.
- Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly.
- Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality.
- Deliver machined parts to the builders assigned to the job.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associates degree OR completion of related apprenticeship program preferred.
- At least one year of related experience required.
- Ability to read and interpret documents and drawings.
- Familiar with wood and plastic sheet goods.
- Experience with applying and programing toolpaths to 2D parts, G-Code preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude and good math skills.
- A keen eye for detail and results-driven approach.
- Good communication abilities.
- Competent in using Microsoft products, Word, Excel, Outlook.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced.
