PositionSummary
Reporting to the Sales and Service Manager, the Hard Goods Associate engages customers in the Hard Goods areas—including Simulators, Putting Green, Club Repair, and Accessories—to drive sales and enhance the customer experience. The role involves front‑end operations such as returns, exchanges and promotions, while ensuring merchandise is presented at a premiere stock and visual level. The Associate demonstrates product knowledge, assists with club fitting, and maintains a clean, operational environment.
Key Responsibilities- Engage every customer and deliver world‑class service by leveraging PGATSS Service behaviors; build lasting relationships to keep customers returning.
- Seek out and engage customers throughout the Hard Goods areas (Simulators, Putting Green, Club Repair, and Accessories).
- Maintain proficiency in front‑end operations: returns, exchanges, gift cards, lesson redemptions, loyalty program awards, discounts, promotions, coupons, etc.; assist as needed.
- Ensure Hard Goods areas are in premier stock and visual presentation to drive sales.
- Keep all Hard Goods equipment, supplies and areas clean, professional, and operational.
- Demonstrate in‑depth product knowledge of various golf clubs and explain features, benefits, and differences to customers.
- Perform proper customer fittings using PGA TOUR Superstore trained fitting techniques.
- Maintain a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance.
- Stay current on merchandising promotions and marketing events; support promotion cycles with bulletin usage.
- Champion the products and services, educating and promoting offerings to customers.
- Provide consistent feedback to the Sales and Service Manager on operational and merchandising opportunities to maintain a best‑in‑class customer experience.
- Certification: Only PGA Members and Apprentices in good standing with the PGA of America are eligible. Candidates must maintain good standing for the duration of employment and may be asked to provide proof of membership.
- Communication: Strong listening and interpersonal skills; excellent verbal and written communication; ability to communicate cross‑functionally.
- Computer: Basic computer skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Organization: Ability to organize multiple priorities to meet deadlines and objectives.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: 2+ years in retail sales or similar preferred.
- Working Conditions: Must be able to stand for extended periods, climb ladders, move throughout the store, and lift a 30 lb. box overhead.
- Schedule: Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Business Acumen: Ability to quickly learn business fundamentals with appropriate training.
- Accountability: Strong self‑accountability and proactive drive for results.
