About the Foundation

The Northwest Soccer Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving athletes, organizations, and communities across the Pacific Northwest. Our mission is to remove financial and systemic barriers to soccer by expanding access to coaching, scholarships, events, facilities, and technology.

We are in an intentional rebuilding phase, bringing together connected leaders from business, finance, legal, and the soccer community to help move the game forward. Our focus is on practical, equitable growth, creating pathways for participation, strengthening community programs, and ensuring the sport continues to grow and evolve in ways that are inclusive, sustainable, and impactful. The Board plays an active role in setting this direction and stewarding the Foundation’s long‑term health.

The Board Member, Treasurer serves as the Board’s financial steward and a key strategic partner in guiding the Foundation’s growth. This role is ideal for a business, finance, or accounting leader who understands both financial rigor and the broader soccer ecosystem, and who wants to help shape the future of the sport through responsible governance.

This is a governance role, not an operational accounting position. The Treasurer works closely with the President, Board, and external accounting partners to ensure financial transparency, sound decision‑making, and long‑term sustainability, while supporting the Foundation’s commitment to equitable access and community impact.

• Serve as Treasurer of the Board and provide financial oversight.
• Review and present financial statements, budgets, and cash‑flow updates to the Board.
• Support budget development and long‑term financial planning.
• Help establish and monitor internal financial controls and policies.
• Partner with external accountants, bookkeepers, or auditors as needed.
• Support compliance with nonprofit financial and reporting requirements.
• Participate in quarterly board meetings and serve on relevant committees.

• Experience in accounting, finance, audit, or financial management.
• Comfort reviewing financial statements and asking informed questions.
• Strong judgment, attention to detail, and commitment to transparency.
• Nonprofit experience is helpful but not required.

This is an unpaid, volunteer position. Board Members are not compensated for their service, in accordance with the Foundation’s current bylaws.

Candidates are interviewed and confirmed by a majority vote of the Board. Appointment is formalized through an offer letter and acceptance of governance responsibilities outlined in the Foundation’s bylaws.
