Mortgage Field Services Inspector – FAR INSPECTIONS

FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required but an ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines is crucial. This independent contractor position is based in Reno, NV and is available as full-time or supplemental work.

Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties. The independent contractor’s role is to verify property occupancy and report the general condition of the property using a mobile application.

• Complete most inspections in 5-6 minutes.
• Finish each inspection within 4 days of assignment.
• Determine occupancy status based on industry standards.
• Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
• Fill out a short form in an app.
• Drive extensively within your county—may need to manage multiple stops during the day.

• Computer with internet connection.
• Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage preferred as you pay for your own gas).
• Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
• Printer.
• Valid driver’s license and background check.

This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. You can earn an equivalent of $30‑$40 per hour by completing approximately 20‑500 inspections per month working 2‑30 hours per week. Lower volume counties pay higher rates; higher volume counties pay lower rates. There is no established minimum of inspections, but the work is steady month‑to‑month.

Mileage reimbursement is included in the flat fee; no additional mileage is paid.
