Job Overview
HS Assistant Track Coach - High Jump at Woodland Park School District RE-2.
Job GoalTo instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for individual and team success while demonstrating behaviors that foster character development, self‑discipline, confidence, and pride.
Salary- Stipend Position – depends on experience
- The head coach athletic director and/or HS Principal
- Assistant coaches and middle school coaches
- Ability to organize and supervise a comprehensive sports program
- Previous successful coaching experience in track and high jump (high school or collegiate level preferred)
- Sound knowledge of technical aspects of high jump; continual study of new theories and procedures
- Serves as an appropriate role model through instruction and actions
- Adherence to CHSAA rules and regulations
- Strong understanding of approach rhythm, takeoff angles, and flight mechanics
- Ability to teach and demonstrate proper form, progression, and technique adjustments
- Excellent communication, leadership, and motivational skills
- Current or ability to obtain CHSAA coaching certification and CPR/First Aid certification
- Proven record of improving high jumper performance and consistency
- Knowledge of periodization and progressive strength training for jumpers
- Ability to create a supportive, focused, and competitive team culture
- Implement all athletic policies approved by the Woodland Park RE-2 Schools’ Board of Education
- Maintain knowledge of state, league, and school regulations; interpret and apply consistently
- Establish fundamental philosophy, skills, and techniques; design conferences and clinics for staff
- Train, inform, and encourage staff; delegate duties, supervise implementation, evaluate assistants
- Assist in scheduling events and practices; coordinate programs with maintenance and school employees
- Document state and system requirements – physical examinations, parental consent, eligibility
- Act as a mentor to each athlete; promote character traits, monitor grades, conduct, and provide guidance
- Oversee equipment – inventory, storage, reconditioning; uphold cleanliness and maintenance of facilities
- Promote public relations – recruit athletes, manage media releases, maintain relationships with boosters, parents, and volunteers
- Provide continual professional development – attend clinics, observe, consult, and refine coaching knowledge
